Forgive me, Mum!!

Here’s a touching article that I have read, it sounds:

Daughter-in-law said:” cook tasteless a bit you said the food is not nice to eat, now I cook salted a bit you said you can’t swallow it, actually what do you want?”

When the mother saw her son came back, directly fed that food in her mouth without saying anything. She stared at him with anger.

Her son tasted the food a bit, directly spitted it out from his mouth. He said:” I’ve told u already, mum is sick, can’t eat too salty one!!”

“Fine!! Mum is yours, next time you cook for her by yourself!!” Later, she went back to her room with anger.

Her son sighed with cannot help but he told his mum,” mum, don’t eat that food again, I’ll cook some noodles for you to eat.”

“Dear, actually you have something want to tell me, right? If yes, just speak it out; don’t keep it down in your heart.”

“Mum, next month company promotes me; I’ll be very busy at that time, as for my wife, she also would like to go out working, so…

His mother sensed the meaning behind his sentence immediately:” Dear, don’t send me to old folk’s house.”

Her voice sounded like imploring.

He became silence for a while, looking for a better reason.

“Mum, old folk’s house actually is not bad, as you know when my wife’s working, sure has no time to serve you better. Besides that, there have got food, place for u stay, people who can take care of you, is it better then you just stay at home alone?”

“But, uncle Choy he…”

After taking a bath, he hastily finished eating the noodles, and then he went back to his study room. He stood at the window, looked a bit hesitate.

His mum became widow since she was young, raised him up hardly to be an adult, and supported him go overseas for further study. She never used her young time’s sacrifice to threaten him to show his filial obedience to her as her counts, but his wife threatened him by their marriage!

Really want to let mum to be in old folk’s house? He asked himself, he cannot bear to let it be like that.

“The one who can accompany you to walk through your whole life is your wife, could it b said that your mum can accompany you to do so?”

Uncle Choy’s son always reminded him like this:

“Your mum is so old already, if she’s lucky, can live more few years, why not show your filial obedience to her while she’s still alive?”

Like Chinese idiom said: “while a tree wants to be quiet but the wind is not stopped, while children want to support their parents back, unfortunately they are gone.”(Literally meaning)

Relative always advise him like that.

He dared not to think more, he’s afraid he’ll change his mind.

During evening, the sun kept its shining light, hid behind the mountain to rest. A luxurious old folk’s house is built at the suburb area.

Say truly, as he spends more money, he felt better.

When her son led her walk through the hall, a brand new TV, 42 inches screen’s showing a comedy, but had no laughing from audiences.

There had got a few old women who have the same attire, and hair style sitting by slanting a bit on a makeup’s chair. There’s an old man who looks dull mumbling himself. While the other one bent down his body slowly to pick up the biscuits on the floor to eat.

He knows his mum like sunlight, so he had chosen a room that has enough sunlight. Look out through the window, under the trees, a greenery scene was seen; a few of nurses were pushing wheel chairs which there are a few of old folks sitting on them under the setting sun. The surroundings is so quiet, makes people feel sad.

Even though at that time was nice, but the day was falling to be dark, he sighed in his heart.

“Mum, I….I have to go!”

She just can nod her head.

When he’s leaving, she kept waving her hand. She opened her toothless mouth, the dry lips moving, looked like want to say something but can’t speak it out. At this moment, he just aware that her silver-grey hair, deep eyes’ hole and wrinkled face.

Mum, you are really old!

He suddenly remembered back his childhood.

When he was six years old, his mother had an urgent at hometown; need to go back but she can’t bring him along with her. Thus, she led him stay at Uncle Choy’s house for a few days. When she’s leaving, he hugged her leg terribly by shouting and crying:” mum don’t abandon me, please don’t leave me alone.”

Lastly, she didn’t leave him alone. He’s quickly leaving that room, and closing the door without turning his head back. He’s scared of that childhood’s memories kept haunting him.

When he returned to his home, he saw his wife and his mother-in-law are delighted when throwing out all her mum’s stuffs from her room. There is a 3-feet cup which was his first winner’s prize from essay competition which its theme was “my mother”. Chinese-English dictionary, it’s the first gift from his mum by saving for a month. Also, a bottle of Chinese herbs oil need to be used before she sleep. Do not spread on for her, what’s for to bring it to old folk’s house?

“Enough, stop throwing!” he shouted at them with anger.

(Here have got too many rubbish, if don’t throw them away, where has place for me to put my stuffs?) Mother-in-law said.

“That’s right, tomorrow you better help me move away your mum’s old bed, I want to help my mum buy the new one!”

A pile of childhood’s photographs displayed in front of his eyes, they all are about his mum brought him to visit at zoo and playground’s pictures.

“They are my mum’s properties!! None of them can be thrown!!”

“What’s the behavior you have? Your tone is too loud for my mum, I want you apologize to her!”

“I married you then I have to love your mum, why not you marry me also love my mum too?”

The night was cold after raining, the street rustled in the air, pedestrians and car were less, a porch was speeding along the road, breaking through the red light, pitfall the yellow spaces, that car heading to the old folk’s house, the car’s stopped and he rushed to the up floor, pushing away his mum’s door, he’s standing like a ghost, his mum’s stroking her legs which are pain with sobbing.

She saw her son’s holding that bottle of oil.

Felt being gratified and said:” mum have forgot to bring, luckily you bring it to me.”

He approached his mum and knelt down.

“It’s too late, mum can spread it on me, and tomorrow you need to work, go back!”

At last, he can’t bear to cry and said:” Mum, I’m sorry, please forgives me, let’s go home together!”

FIN~
